There's no place like home for the McKenzie Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 73-55 win over Opp on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
McKenzie was led to victory by Jaylen Mcmillian and Quay Jackson. Mcmillian scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Jackson shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten assists. Mcmillian is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jay Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Opp's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dorian Harris, who scored 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Adams, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
McKenzie's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11. As for Opp, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-23.
McKenzie will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Opp, they will head out on the road to square off against the Gamecocks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
