On Wednesday, North Eugene came up short against Sunnyslope and fell 50-39. While losing is never fun, North Eugene can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 155th in Oregon, while Sunnyslope is ranked 24th in Arizona).
Sunnyslope's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maggie Luba, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Mickelson , who scored 13 points.
North Eugene has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Sunnyslope, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
North Eugene will head out on the road to face off against South Salem at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunnyslope and Kaukauna will round out the year against one another at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday at. Hopefully Kaukauna focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday.
