The Animas Panthers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Springer Red Devils at 4:00 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Animas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Animas, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-37 loss to Lordsburg.
Despite the defeat, Animas had strong showings from James Jarvis, who scored eight points, and Diego Renteria, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Renteria hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games.
Meanwhile, Springer was able to grind out a solid win over Questa on Tuesday, taking the game 52-45. The win was just what Springer needed coming off of a 97-33 loss in their prior contest.
Animas bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Springer, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Animas might still be hurting after the 69-49 defeat they got from Springer when the teams last played back in January of 2019. Can Animas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
