Juab is 8-2 against Manti since October of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Juab Wasps will take on the Manti Templars at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Juab at home against North Sanpete as the team secured a 41-13 win. Juab pushed the score to 34-13 by the end of the third, a deficit North Sanpete had little chance of recovering from.
Juab can attribute much of their success to Austin Park, who rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 95 yards and a touchdown. Porter Anderson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Another reason for the win was Juab's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kody Brandon and Keagan Hall who racked up five sacks between them.
Even though Manti has not done well against Juab recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way two weeks ago. Manti took down Juab 35-17. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Manti.
Maison Starkweather was his usual excellent self, throwing for 176 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 97 yards on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Bo Stevens, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns.
Juab now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Manti, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Juab lost to Manti on the road by a decisive 35-17 margin when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Juab avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
