The La Cueva Bears will face off against the Capital Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. La Cueva will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.
Capital's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: La Cueva hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Bears didn't even let Santa Fe on the board on Saturday, marking the Bears' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 16 matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Liliana Montoya made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Eardley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was MaceRae Santistevan, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
La Cueva was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .722. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in 16 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Capital fell victim to Sandia and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Matadors, falling 20-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Jaguars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
La Cueva's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Capital, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10-1.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. La Cueva hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .481. However, it's not like Capital struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
La Cueva took their victory against Capital in their previous meeting last Saturday by a conclusive 20-0 score. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
