The North Rose-Wolcott Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Geneva, falling 55-26. North Rose-Wolcott was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-8.
Geneva got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaitlyn Wright out in front who scored six points along with eight assists and eight steals. That's the first time this season that Wright posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Good, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
North Rose-Wolcott bumped their record down to 1-11 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.1 points per game. As for Geneva, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
North Rose-Wolcott will look to defend their home court on Friday against Gananda Central at 7:30 p.m. Gananda Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Rose-Wolcott in New York (Gananda Central is ranked 153rd, while North Rose-Wolcott is ranked 571st). As for Geneva, they will head out on the road to take on Honeoye at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Honeoye comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
