York has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The South Pointe Stallions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Pointe took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on York, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, York beat Lancaster 19-12. Given York's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Lancaster is ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, South Pointe's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Northwestern on the road and fell 64-31. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Mason Picket-Hicks put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 165 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Aidan Turner was in the mix as well, providing South Pointe with two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, South Pointe's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Northwestern's QB won't forget C.J. Dixon anytime soon given Dixon sacked him four times.
York is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for South Pointe, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
York suffered a grim 33-13 defeat to South Pointe when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can York avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
