The Quitman Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Richton Rebels at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Quitman will be strutting in after a victory while Richton will be coming in after a loss.
It was a proper cat-fight when Quitman duked it out with Meridian on Friday. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 6-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

James Files tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 5.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Quitman is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Quitman saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landen Herrington, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Herrington a new career-high. Daniel Peters was another, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Richton came up short against Lumberton on Friday and fell 5-1.
Wyatt Cochran made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.
Quitman's record is now 3-8. As for Richton, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Quitman has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Richton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Quitman's way against Richton in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Quitman made off with an 11-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
