Lewisburg (Olive Branch, Miss.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as it ran for a touchdown with with 9:00 remaining in the third quarter, bringing the team to victory over
North Pontotoc (Ecru, Miss.) 29-18.
The Patriots expanded their lead to 10 points entering the fourth quarter. Lewisburg scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run.
Xavier Morris stood out for LHS in the win. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 16 touchdowns on the season.
Marcus Green made a difference for the Vikings. The junior wide receiver ran for one touchdown and caught two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to 21 on the year.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which North Pontotoc took, 38-14.
The defeat comes as a step back for North Pontotoc, which notched a 26-14 victory over Senatobia in its previous outing.
North Pontotoc (6-4) goes up against Lafayette in a 4A Region 2 game matchup next week, while Lewisburg (7-3) locks horns with New Albany also in a 4A Region 2 game.
