The East Poinsett County Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 42-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westside. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points East Poinsett County has scored all season.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xzandria Young, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for Young. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyla Harston, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
East Poinsett County's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-4. As for Westside, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
East Poinsett County will be playing in front of their home fans against Buffalo Island Central at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westside, they will head out on the road to face off against Wynne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arkansas (Wynne is ranked 76th, while Westside is ranked 98th).
