In what's become a running theme this season, the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They claimed a resounding 67-37 victory over Alleluia Community at home. The win was just what Briarwood Academy needed coming off of a 61-36 defeat in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Briarwood Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caroline Stapleton, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stapleton has scored all season. Emma Scott was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten steals.
Alleluia Community lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Reese Janik, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Janik, who scored nine points.
Briarwood Academy pushed their record up to 14-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.89 points. As for Alleluia Community, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.
Briarwood Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against David Emanuel Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. David Emanuel Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while Briarwood Academy is ranked 97th).
