Wood River has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Minden Whippets on Thursday. Wood River will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Minden is ranked 14th).
You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Wood River's strategy against St. Paul on Saturday. Wood River strolled past St. Paul with points to spare, taking the game 52-33. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, as Wood River did.
It was another big night for Ellie Morgan, who shot 4-for-5 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sage Brabec, who scored five points along with eight assists.
Adams Central typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Minden proved too difficult a challenge. They enjoyed a cozy 61-42 victory over the Patriots.
Wood River pushed their record up to 12-8 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Minden, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Wood River was taken down by Minden 75-41 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Wood River avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
