The Blackduck Drakes lost against the Kelliher/Northome Mustangs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Blackduck was beaten by Kelliher/Northome 86-38. Blackduck has not had much luck with Kelliher/Northome recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Kate Thayer had an outrageously good game for Kelliher/Northome as she dropped a triple-double on 26 points, 10 assists, and 10 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Thayer has scored at least 25% of Kelliher/Northome's points. Another player making a difference was Kylee Binkley, who scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Blackduck's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Kelliher/Northome, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blackduck will challenge Clearbrook-Gonvick at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kelliher/Northome, they will head out on the road to face off against Warroad at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Warroad is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
