1A North Central recap September 24, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Yuma, who took down 119th ranked Resurrection Christian, 20-12. Trace Whitehead threw for 179 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 12 yards in the win.
Fans got a thrill when Trevor Dalton and Logan Tharp connected against Cornerstone Christian Academy. The longest such play in 1A North Central this season, the connection resulted in 78 yards.
Tharp was the best receiver in the league this week as Holyoke topped the Bulldogs. Tharp racked up 3 receptions for 95 yards.
Terran Freauff was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 128 yards on 13 carries as Wiggins bested Cornerstone Christian Academy. Corey Ritchey also contributed to the rushing game with 82 yards on the ground.
Connor Campbell was a key player and the best on defense this week as Tim Naiman's team lost to Holyoke. The 6-foot-3 senior.
Whitehead put up the best numbers through the air as the Indians bested the Cougars. Whitehead's favorite target this week was Jaden Koenig, who caught 6 passes for 67 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Nathaniel Ruble and Jacob Baca, the Bulldogs have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Ruble leads the league in passing with 550 yards, while Baca has rushed for 564 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is John Zilla's team's Tharp, with 194 yards on 7 catches.
A big matchup in 1A North Central this week will be when Wray takes on Cornerstone Christian Academy. The Eagles are in fourth place, while the Bulldogs are in third place.
The Tigers took down Highland 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Freauff threw for 43 yards during the win.
