The Maryvale Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Alhambra Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Maryvale is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Maryvale suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 79-37 loss at the hands of North. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Maryvale has suffered against North since January 13, 2022.
Despite their defeat, Maryvale saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dalia Valdez, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Marianna Jennings was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Alhambra had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 40-27 victory over Camelback on Friday. The win was just what Alhambra needed coming off of a 53-27 defeat in their prior match.
Maryvale's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Alhambra, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-11.
Maryvale took a serious blow against Alhambra in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 71-26. Can Maryvale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
