The Elkmont Red Devils will challenge the Whitesburg Christian Academy Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Elkmont will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Elkmont is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 20-10 margin over Falkville on Monday. With that win, the Red Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Elkmont got a massive performance out of Savannah Williams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those runs were Williams' first of the season. Avery Harwell was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Elkmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Whitesburg Christian Academy won against Mae Jemison on Tuesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Whitesburg Christian Academy walked away with a 9-5 victory over Mae Jemison. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Allie McGill was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. McGill was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brinkley Lang, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ella Hill, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one double.
Whitesburg Christian Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Elkmont, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Everything went Elkmont's way against Whitesburg Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2018, as Elkmont made off with a 9-3 victory. Will Elkmont repeat their success, or does Whitesburg Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
