Clearwater has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Northeast Vikings at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Wednesday, everything came up roses for Clearwater at home against the Hurricanes as the team secured a 63-16 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Clearwater has managed all season.
Brooks Duncan and Nicho Simes were among the main playmakers for Clearwater as the former scored 13 points along with three blocks and the latter scored 17 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Duncan posted two or more blocks. Jonathan Silva was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Northeast scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 82-55 victory over Canterbury. Winning may never get old, but Northeast sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Northeast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamaries Conyers led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Conyers has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Rodriguez, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Clearwater has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-12 record this season. As for Northeast, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-10.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Clearwater have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 21.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northeast struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Clearwater against the Vikings in their previous matchup back in December of 2019 as the team secured a 81-26 win. With Clearwater ahead 47-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
