On the hitting side, Cooper Wilson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Wetherell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Berkeley Prep had just enough and edged out Wesley Chapel 2-1 on Friday.
Rivers Kurland tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched.
At the plate, Josh Herrmann was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Berkeley Prep's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Trinity Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Trinity Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Berkeley Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
