The Central Fellowship Christian Academy Lancers's three-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They escaped with a win against Pelham by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54. The win was just what Central Fellowship Christian Academy needed coming off of a 49-27 loss in their prior contest.
Central Fellowship Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Kiersten Rogers, who scored 25 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for her. Morgan Riley was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Despite the loss, Pelham had strong showings from Sariyah Chester, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Truth Wimberly, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Wimberly scored a full 37% of Pelham's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Central Fellowship Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Pelham, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Fellowship Christian Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Piedmont Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Pelham's road trip will continue as they head out to face Miller County at 6:00 p.m. on January 2nd. Miller County is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
