Lakeview has gone 9-1 against Struthers recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. Lakeview will square off against Struthers at 5:00 p.m. Struthers took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lakeview, who comes in off a win.
On Saturday, Lakeview got the win against Ursuline by a conclusive 12-3.
Jacob Shaker and Brandon Toot made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Shaker tossed 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Toot pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Shaker scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Toot scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two runs gave Shaker a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lakeview got a big performance out of Jozef Kuchcinski, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Gough, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Lakeview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ursuline only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Struthers unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of McDonald by a score of 12-10 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since April 19, 2024.
Eddie Bradley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was JR Hovanec, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Everything went Lakeview's way against Struthers when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Lakeview made off with a 14-1 win. Will Lakeview repeat their success, or does Struthers has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
