Providence Hall is 8-1 against Judge Memorial Catholic since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Patriots will take on the Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. Providence Hall will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Providence Hall saw some tournament action on Saturday. They put the hurt on North Summit with a sharp 13-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Taycee Metts was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Madelyn Johnson and Alysa Marcek did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Marcek went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Johnson has posted since back in March. Aspyn Patterson-Bodell also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Providence Hall lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Summit didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, Judge Memorial Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 21-17 to Rowland Hall. Even if the Bulldogs couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Emma Terhaar stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Rylie Vigil, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double.
Providence Hall's record now sits at 13-8. As for Judge Memorial Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Judge Memorial Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Providence Hall has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. It's a different story for Judge Memorial Catholic, though, as they've been averaging 13 hits. Given Providence Hall's sizable advantage in that area, the Bulldogs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Providence Hall took their win against Judge Memorial Catholic in their previous matchup on April 10th by a conclusive 18-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
