Henry County typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday South Oldham proved too difficult a challenge. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 10-0 shutout. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by eight runs or more this season.
Kaylee Fitzner was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, South Oldham let Lucy Knabel and Grace Turner run wild. Knabel went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Turner went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kylee Black was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
South Oldham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Henry County only posted a batting average of .111.
The victory got South Oldham back to even at 13-13. As for Henry County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-9.
South Oldham wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-3 win against Pleasure Ridge Park on the 14th. Henry County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
