The Sparks Railroaders were the 46-42 winner over the Wooster Colts when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Sparks' rough 63-42 defeat to the Colts on Wednesday might stick with them for a while. Sparks has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sparks lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Adrian Banuelos Puga, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. Banuelos Puga is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Eli Flores was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Jared Marquicias continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wooster, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Marquicias has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamal Gaitor, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Sparks has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Wooster, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-8.
Sparks will be playing at home against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Valleys is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Wooster, they will head out on the road to challenge the Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Truckee comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
