Basketball Recap: Riverdale Ridge Extends Home Winning Streak to 13

Riverdale Ridge had won 12 straight home games dating back to last season and Dylan Nieto did his part to make it 13 on Thursday. The Riverdale Ridge Ravens enjoyed a cozy 70-55 victory over the Prairie View Thunderhawks thanks in part to Nieto, who went 9 of 20 on his way to 27 points and six rebounds. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Mestas, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in February of 2024.

Several Thunderhawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Javon Brewton, who posted 19 points along with five assists and five boards. Chidiebere Akotaobi was another key player, going 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points.

Riverdale Ridge moved to 4-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Prairie View, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverdale Ridge will host Green Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Riverdale Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Green Mountain likes a good challenge. As for Prairie View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Prairie View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season.
