Division II-B recap Oct. 30, 2012
Cumberland extended the longest winning streak in Division II-B this week by beating Shea, 28-9. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Clippers.
Rogers took down Pilgrim 40-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
St. Raphael Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Emmanuel Leake threw for 17 yards and Alcino Aviles-Soares had 17 yards receiving. On the ground Charles Correa chipped in 135 yards.
Cumberland's Brendan Guerin and Mitchell Baxter have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Guerin has thrown for 831 yards this season, while Baxter has 22 catches for 385 yards. The Saints' Correa leads the league in rushing yards with 497.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Central and the Vikings. The Knights enters the game ranked 23rd in the state, while Rogers ranks 13th.
Two of the top units in Division II-B will face off this week when West Warwick takes on Chris Skurka's team. The Wizards' offense has recorded 224 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Clippers have permitted only 45 on the year.
There should be lots of points scored when West Warwick and Cumberland face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Shane Lagor's team comes in having scored 224 this season, while the Clippers have scored 214. The Wizards scored 36 points last week as they defeated Central.
St. Raphael Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,512 from 6,679. The improvement came about via a 35-13 victory over North Kingstown last week.
