Tooele is 1-7 against Hillcrest since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tooele Buffaloes will head out on the road to take on the Hillcrest Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Tooele is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Tooele pushed their score all the way to 73 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Murray by a score of 75-73. While losing is never fun, Tooele can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Murray is ranked 35th).
Tooele might have lost, but man, Ethan B rogers was a machine: he almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 43.8% of Tooele's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Dillon Polson was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Even though they lost, Tooele were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. This was only their 12th loss (out of 16 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Meanwhile, Hillcrest came up short against Cottonwood on Wednesday and fell 59-51. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hillcrest in their matchups with Cottonwood: they've now lost eight in a row.
Tooele has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. Hillcrest's record is now 9-12.
Tooele came up short against Hillcrest when the teams last played back in January, falling 54-47. Can Tooele avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
