Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fowler). Everything went their way against the Walsenburg Panthers on Friday as the Fowler Grizzlies made off with a 49-24 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Grizzlies as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Fowler got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Andrea Maestas out in front who posted eight points along with five assists and four steals. That's the most assists Maestas has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Katie Nesselhuf, who put up six points and eight boards.

Fowler's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-10. As for Walsenburg, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Fowler and Walsenburg could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Fowler will square off against McClave at 12:00 p.m. on February 8th down 199 places (215 vs. 16). Meanwhile, Walsenburg (ranked 326th) will meet Del Norte (ranked 116th) at 4:00 p.m. on February 8th.
