The Twin Peaks Charter Academy Timberwolves's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Poudre Community Academy Warriors at 6:15 p.m. on January 19th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Twin Peaks Charter Academy posted their closest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Nederland and snuck past 44-42.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Twin Peaks Charter Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Angel Ortega, who scored nine points along with three steals. Yannis Diby was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Poudre Community Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Wellington with a sharp 82-56 win. That 26 points margin sets a new team best for Poudre Community Academy this season.
Poudre Community Academy had a senior duo take command as Ian Voetelink dropped a double-double on 30 points and 18 rebounds and Miguel Apolonio dropped a double-double on 32 points and 16 rebounds. Voetelink is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Armando Granados-Porter, who scored six points along with eight assists and eight steals.
Twin Peaks Charter Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Poudre Community Academy, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Friday's contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Twin Peaks Charter Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 38.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Poudre Community Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 44.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Twin Peaks Charter Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Poudre Community Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 63-53.
