Millis and Bellingham are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Mohawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blackhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
On Saturday, Millis came up short against Cohasset and fell 8-3.
Macy Ingraham was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bellingham). They never let Medway get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Blackhawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Trista Corshia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kaleigh Simpson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Jacobi Houston was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Bellingham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .559. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Bellingham has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Millis, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Millis couldn't quite get it done against Bellingham in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 4-1. Will the Mohawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
