Ocean Lakes got themselves on the board against Tallwood on Tuesday, but Tallwood never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Lions. The result was nothing new for the Dolphins, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Tre Hamilton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Aiden Skalski looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Connor Mais was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Gocio, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Ocean Lakes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tallwood only posted an OBP of .125.
Ocean Lakes is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Tallwood, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-10.
Coming up, Ocean Lakes will take on Kellam at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dolphins 2.9, the Knights 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Tallwood, they will challenge First Colonial at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
