The Phoenix Firebirds won the last time they faced the Solvay Bearcats, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Phoenix claimed a resounding 59-22 victory over Solvay on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-3.
When it comes to explaining why Solvay lost, one person who can't be blamed is Neonna Turk. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Turk's third in a row with at least ten points.
The win makes it two in a row for Phoenix and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Solvay, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoenix will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Solvay at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Solvay, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Corcoran/Fowler at 5:30 p.m.
