The Avoyelles Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Kinder Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Avoyelles will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Last Friday, Avoyelles was fully in charge, breezing past Pickering 54-6 at home. With Avoyelles ahead 54-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Decareyn Sampson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 319 yards and five touchdowns on only eight carries. Sampson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Kevin Jones was another key contributor, rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Kinder earned a 32-21 victory over Westlake two weeks ago. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kinder.
Their wins bumped Avoyelles to 3-7 and Kinder to 6-4.
Avoyelles came up short against Kinder in their previous matchup back in December of 2020, falling 28-22. Can Avoyelles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
