Bedford Academy suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were outmatched by Summit Academy on the road and fell 78-38. Bedford Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-17.
Leading Summit Academy to victory were Chloe Freeman and Amerie Santana. Freeman dropped a triple-double on 26 points, ten assists, and 12 steals, while Santana scored 29 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Freeman continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alana Rivers, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Bedford Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Summit Academy, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-3.
Bedford Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cobble Hill at 5:00 p.m. on January 30th. One thing working in Cobble Hill's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Summit Academy, they will take on Construction at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
