The Burbank Bulldogs entered their tilt with the Lanier Voks with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Burbank snuck past Lanier with a 31-27 victory on Saturday. This was payback for Burbank, who suffered a 36-20 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Burbank's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rene Espinoza, who picked up 170 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Espinoza's longest reception was for an incredible 86 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Lozano, who gained 126 total yards and a touchdown.
Burbank's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Lanier, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
Burbank will square off against Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Veterans Memorial is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Lanier does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
