The Van Horn Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Reagan County Owls at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Van Horn has given up an average of 21.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Van Horn is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 20-8 to Wink on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Reagan County, as they earned their first away victory of the season. Everything went their way against McCamey on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-1 win. The Owls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by ten runs or more this season.
Ellie Fuller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Fuller was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Reagan County got a massive performance out of Vanessa Ortiz, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Ortiz has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Marianna Aguilar, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Reagan County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .725. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McCamey only posted an OBP of .333.
Reagan County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Van Horn, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Van Horn might still be hurting after the 21-4 defeat they got from Reagan County when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
