With a playoff game on the line, the Ovid-Elsie Marauders rose to the challenge on Saturday. They walked away with a 38-25 victory over Constantine. Winning may never get old, but Ovid-Elsie sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Clayton Fruchey was a one-man wrecking crew for Ovid-Elsie as he rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Fruchey was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Another player making a difference was Tryce Tokar, who threw for 67 yards and two touchdowns.
Ovid-Elsie is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Constantine, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-2.
Ovid-Elsie will square off against Almont at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Almont is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Constantine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
