Quincy is 1-8 against Geneseo since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Blue Devils will welcome the Maple Leafs at 4:30 p.m. Quincy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Quincy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Augusta Southeastern with a sharp 29-4 victory on Wednesday. Sterling typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Geneseo proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Warriors, sneaking past 3-2.
Kendyl Wassenhove spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madisyn Buysse, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Geneseo's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Quincy, their win bumped their record up to 11-18.
Quincy's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Blue Devils have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Geneseo, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Quincy continue to outrun the ball?
