Godwin has won five straight games at home, while Deep Run has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Eagles will host the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Godwin 0.7, Deep Run 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Godwin is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Glen Allen, who was ranked 15th at the time (Godwin was ranked first). The Eagles never let the Jaguars get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Wednesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Katelyn Hubley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carter Dunham and Adelynn Collins did most of the damage at the plate: Dunham went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Collins went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Collins has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Avery Fankhauser, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Godwin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glen Allen only managed one hit.
Meanwhile, Deep Run posted their closest victory since April 26, 2024 on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Manchester. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Wildcats have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
The team relied heavily on Hope Tate, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Deep Run is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Godwin, their win bumped their record up to 10-0.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Godwin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like Deep Run struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Godwin beat Deep Run 5-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
