The San Juan Broncos lost against the Kanab Cowboys back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. San Juan ended up on the wrong side of a tough 61-40 walloping at the hands of Kanab. San Juan has struggled against Kanab recently, as their contest on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
San Juan's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tripp Palmer, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Keaton Ivins, who scored 10 points.
Cash Mortensen was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with 6 assists for Kanab. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mortensen has scored at least 25% of Kanab's points. Trey Castagno was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
San Juan's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Kanab, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
San Juan will be playing in front of their home fans against American Leadership Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. American Leadership Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 71 points per game. Kanab will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on South Sevier at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (South Sevier is ranked 49th, while Kanab is ranked 24th).
