Somers has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Suffield Wildcats at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Somers' strategy against the Bulldogs on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Somers blew the Bulldogs out of the water with a 58-31 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Somers had established a 26 point advantage.
Suffield was handed a two-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Rams on Friday. Everything went Suffield's way against the Rams as the Wildcats made off with a 50-26 win. Given Suffield's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Rams are ranked 145th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Somers has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Suffield, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Somers strolled past the Wildcats when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 50-36. Will Somers repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
