The ALA - Queen Creek Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Higley Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (ALA - Queen Creek has four straight victories, Higley has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, ALA - Queen Creek made easy work of ALA - Gilbert North and carried off a 12-2 win. Considering the Patriots have won five games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Chloe Varvel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Sadie Nielson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Kamrynn Phillips was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one triple.
ALA - Queen Creek hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as ALA - Gilbert North struck out 13 times.
Meanwhile, Higley lost 15-6 to Queen Creek on Thursday.
Ella Babcock was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
ALA - Queen Creek's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Higley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12-1.
Higley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. ALA - Queen Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Higley, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will ALA - Queen Creek keep running through batters, or will Higley buck the trend?
