Basketball Game Preview: Tocoi Creek Toros vs. Atlantic Coast Stingrays

The Tocoi Creek Toros will face off against the Atlantic Coast Stingrays at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Tocoi Creek's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.

Last Friday, Tocoi Creek humbled Riverside with a 60-19 victory. The Toros have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Audrey Beyer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 16 en route to 23 points and five rebounds. The game was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gabi Iturralde, who posted eight points and six assists.

Tocoi Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Atlantic Coast came up short against Andrew Jackson on Tuesday and fell 57-47. While losing is never fun, the Stingrays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Tigers are ranked 102nd).

Tocoi Creek will need focus on slowing down Kylie Johnson, one of several Atlantic Coast players who made an impact when they last played. She had 17 points. Mia Chandler was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Tocoi Creek's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.6 points. As for Atlantic Coast, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.
