It was another big night for Leah Smith, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six steals for Broadwater Academy. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Broadwater Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kacey Ford, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Holly Grove Christian's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Broadwater Academy, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holly Grove Christian and Calvary Christian Academy will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Calvary Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday. As for Broadwater Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Isle of Wight Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Isle of Wight Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Broadwater Academy in Virginia (Isle of Wight Academy is ranked 110th, while Broadwater Academy is ranked 278th).
