Bhyron Graham and Alex Barron stepped up to the plate in a big way. Graham went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run, while Barron scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Barron has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Stephens, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask First Academy). They blew past All Saints' Academy 24-7 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Madi Myers was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Carlton, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
First Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .816. They are 6-3 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Wildwood's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for First Academy, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wildwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .445. However, it's not like First Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .434. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wildwood suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to First Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
