On Tuesday, the Ridgeland Titans faced the Vicksburg Gators in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ridgeland put the hurt on the Gators with a sharp 77-57 victory. Winning may never get old, but Ridgeland sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Ridgeland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Phil Nelson out in front who scored 19 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Nelson hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ebo Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 22 rebounds.
Ridgeland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. As for Vicksburg, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgeland will challenge the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northwest Rankin is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Vicksburg, they will head out on the road to take on the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Warren Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Gators are ranked ninth).
