The Carbon Dinos waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They walked away with a 66-53 victory over Canyon View. That's another feather in the cap for Carbon, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Carbon to victory were Madison Orth and Amiah Timothy. Orth scored 18 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Timothy scored 25 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. Orth has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Bailey Curtis was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Canyon View lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maya Nichols, who scored 17 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nichols has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Emery Miles, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Even though they lost, Canyon View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carbon only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Carbon pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Canyon View, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carbon on the road again on Thursday and play against North Sanpete at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for Canyon View, they will take on Richfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
