AA Region VI recap Oct. 16, 2012
Ridgeland/Hardeeville's Deo'vonte Doe rumbled for the longest rushing play in AA Region VI this season in his game against Woodland last week. Doe ran for 50 yards on the play and finished with 101 on the day as his team lost to the Wolverines.
Woodland extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Ridgeland/Hardeeville, 54-12. The win marks sixth in a row for the Reed Charpia's team.
Burke's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Craig Williams threw for 198 and one touchdown and Smith Devon had 120 yards receiving. On the ground Williams chipped in 102 yards. Davontae Wilder helped Burke's passing attack out by catching three balls for 78 yards.
The Bulldogs' Williams and Devon have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-7 quarterback Williams has thrown for 689 yards this season, while Devon has 20 catches for 430 yards. Doe from Blake Raley's team leads the league in rushing with 1140 yards.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Wolverines take on Bishop England. Woodland has allowed 99 points this season, while the Battling Bishops have given up 103.
Academic Magnet was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in AA Region VI. The Raptors beat Burke 48-28 earlier in the week.
