The Findlay Trojans will take on the Defiance Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Findlay fell victim to Perrysburg and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 13-0 to the Yellow Jackets. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Yellow Jackets: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, Defiance got themselves on the board against Van Wert on Tuesday, but Van Wert never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Addison Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Miller was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Gutierrez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ayvah Cullen, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Defiance kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.
Defiance is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Findlay, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Everything went Findlay's way against Defiance in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Findlay made off with a 9-3 victory. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
