Tri-County is 2-8 against Carroll since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cavaliers will be playing at home against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Tri-County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Carroll's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Tri-County hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Cavaliers' pitcher stepped up to hand South Newton a 3-0 shutout on Thursday.

Ian Houser made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Houser wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Schneider, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Carroll and Rossville had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cougars fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. Cougars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Hornets since on Thursday.
Xavier Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Owen Zinn made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Coy Lytle, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Tri-County pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Carroll, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tri-County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Carroll struggles in that department as they've averaged .434. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tri-County came out on top in a nail-biter against Carroll in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Cavaliers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
