The Serra Cavaliers will host the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, Serra took their matchup with ease, bagging a 65-35 win over Ramona Convent. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-16.

Serra relied on the efforts of Kaicia Snelson, who went 9 for 19 on her way to 21 points, and Yve Young, who went 7 of 13 en route to 15 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Snelson a new career-high in points. Mariyah Lewis was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Meanwhile, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy blew past Paraclete, posting a 48-19 victory. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 543rd, while the Spirits are ranked 1200th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Serra is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.2 points per game. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
